Our Mission
Scouting Purdue is a student organization that continues the long tradition of Scouting at Purdue University. For more than a century, Scouts have grown into leaders who carried their values into classrooms, careers, and communities. Our group brings together students, alumni, and friends who live by the Scout Oath and Law and want to keep the spirit of Scouting alive on campus.
Our mission is to build a fellowship-based service organization rooted in Scouting values, dedicated to leadership, cheerful service, and personal growth.
Our Legacy
Neil Armstrong earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1947 as a member of Troop 14 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and later graduated from Purdue University in 1955 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

When Neil Armstrong set out on Apollo 11, he carried more than the hopes of a nation. He brought with him a World Scout Badge tucked among his personal items. On July 20, 1969, that badge touched the surface of the Moon, becoming a symbol that the values of Scouting could travel as far as human ambition would take them.

At Scouting Purdue, we want to build on that legacy. Just as Armstrong carried the spirit of Scouting with him into space, our members aim to carry it forward here on campus into the wider world. By doing so, we ensure that Scouting’s values continue to inspire future Boilermakers to aim high and act with integrity.
